Lake Forest, CA – October 18, 2018 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and physical and digital collectibles, today announced that it will showcase its newest tabletop games at Internationale Spieltage SPIEL ’18, October 25-28 in Essen, Germany. The annual event is the biggest fair for board games in the world, featuring over 1,000 exhibitors and allowing gamers to interact with game publishers, designers, illustrators, and reviewers.
At Booth 5H116, Cryptozoic will demo and sell several recent releases, including two Rick and Morty games, the fourth Epic Spell Wars game, and Million Dollars, But… The Game, which has been given a wide release in partnership with Rooster Teeth. It will also preview Cult: Choose Your God Wisely before it is available at retailers at the end of the year. The company will have many of its classic games, including titles from the popular DC Deck-Building Game series, for sale as well.
“Bigger is usually better. And it’s doesn’t get any bigger than SPIEL when it comes to tabletop games,” said John Sepenuk, CEO of Cryptozoic. “It’s going to be a busy show, but Cryptozoic is ready to turn some heads with some of our most innovative and fun games ever, including Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game and our newest Epic Spell Wars game. We can’t wait to meet our fans in Germany and hopefully make some new ones before we hop on a plane to head back home.”
Cryptozoic will showcase several 2018 games at the show, including:
Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game: This intense 1-2 player game is based on the hugely popular “Pickle Rick” episode of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. One player becomes Pickle Rick as he tries to escape a heavily armed compound, while the other player takes on the roles of both the Russians and Jaguar as they try to stop him. Adding to the off-the-wall fun is the collectible Pickle Rick game case that measures approximately 12.75 inches tall and holds all of the game’s components, including custom Pickle Rick and Jaguar playing pieces!
Epic Spell WarsTM of the Battle Wizards: Panic at the Pleasure Palace: The fourth game in the Epic Spell WarsTM series takes the trademark humor-filled, mature gameplay and artwork to a new level for 2-6 players. Magically Transmitted Diseases (MTDs) are a powerful addition to the proceedings, leading Wizards to suffer Crotch Krakens, Genital Harpies, and Gorgonorrhea, among other enchanted afflictions. The game looks to continue the growth of the series, which has gained a legion of fans since the first game was featured on the hit web series TableTop.
Million Dollars, But... The Game: Based on Rooster Teeth’s wildly popular web series Million Dollars But…, this addictive, easy-to-learn party game has players put their morals and imagination to the test, posing the question, “What would you do for a million dollars?” The 2-6 players take turns proposing scenarios in which someone gets a million dollars, but must do something distasteful in exchange. The partnership between Cryptozoic and Rooster Teeth has made the game available at hobby stores and other retailers nationwide.
Cult: Choose Your God Wisely: This 2-5 player board game is a worker/Priest placement game with a unique take on in-game currency: Followers. Players choose Gods (each with special abilities) and send their Priests to places in the Eternal City in an attempt to bring their deity victory over the minds and souls of humanity. Followers are gained and sacrificed and Altars are built to the different Gods as they clash in this exciting new take on the genre. The game can be played now on Tabletopia, a virtual platform for board games co-founded by Igrology, before arriving at retailers later this year.
Rick and Morty: The Ricks Must Be Crazy Multiverse Game: In this engine-building game based on the unforgettable episode of Rick and Morty, 2-4 players take on the roles of Rick, Morty, Zeep, and Kyle as they introduce Power-making technology to different worlds, and then try to get that Power before their opponents.
